Jennifer Shields, Owner & Event Stylist
I graduated from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a BA in English and Journalism. I spent over 12 years in corporate marketing, event planning and project management, but always gravitated towards party planning and entertaining. In the midst of planning my son’s baseball-themed first birthday party, I had the idea to start my own event planning company specializing in theme parties for children. In 2007, Posh Tot Events was born and I and spent the next 5 years as Atlanta’s premier party planner specializing in full service events for children.
In 2013, I found a charming antebellum house just off Roswell Square, and fell in love with its historic charm. I knew it would be a perfect venue for the intimate, personal events that I loved to design and soon opened the doors to The Gilbert House, a unique event venue for intimate events such as baby and bridal showers, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, graduation parties and small weddings. I began to phase out my kids party planning business to focus primarily on renting out my venue and styling smaller, more personalized events. I also began taking on Bar/Bat Mitzvah clients throughout Atlanta.
In the 10 years I have been designing custom theme parties, I have built a vast collection of party decor, props, and linens. Through Simple Details, I am now making this collection available to event planners, photographers and party enthusiasts alike. I truly believe that events do not need to be over the top to be special. A little planning and personalization can go a long way to making an event memorable.
