It’s a New Craze, The Cookie Swap!

Everyone is doing it and you can too, so just in time for the holidays’ here is the Posh Cookie Swap how to. Create a list of friends to whom your directions will go. Tell them to bake up their favorite cookie concoctions, and head to your home. When they arrive for the fete, they’ll have cookies to swap with you and the other guests. All flavors will fly, just depends on the kinds they like, it could be two or three different types. Once the cookies have been swapped and the night is quiet once more, you’ll all have an assortment that’ll bring smiles to those whose homes you may go.

Monkey-ing Around with Lilly Pulitzer

My friend Barbara emailed me this weekend with a sweet idea for her daughter’s upcoming 5th Birthday. Chiara (don’t you love that name?) is really into Lilly Pulitzer prints (how posh!) and wants to use the new party decor they are selling in the specialty stationary shops like Swoozies to be the focus of her party. But to make it her own, she wants to incorporate her love of the Oooh Ahh Monkeys into the mix. Her dad is very musical and her mom is super posh and hip so it’s no surprise this kid has come up with a party theme so unique! So here’s what I am thinking. A Super Mario Brother’s Theme for Hayden’s 7th Birthday

Mario on the Red Carpet

7 year old Hayden is a Wii fanatic and wanted a Super Mario Brother’s theme for his 7th Birthday. Always up for a challenge, we came up with a fully interactive event complete with a “Wii Lounge” where the kids got to play the game on a huge screen, take pictures with “Mario” on the red carpet in front of a custom designed backdrop, and decorate picture frames to put the pictures in that were taken on site. Instead of the usual goody bags we set up a “favor buffet” and the kids got to pick out their own goodies from a cool selection of Mario themed loot. It was a great event and everyone had a ball!

A Pirate Party Adventure for Kai’s 6th Birthday

It was a hot and steamy day, perfect for a high sea adventure! The children started the day bouncing like crazy on a huge inflatable pirate ship. A treasure chest full of pirate and princess garb got everyone into character and a real live Pirate showed up and led the children on a hunt for buried treasure. Click here for more photos.

A Posh Mermaid Tea Party

It was a lovely day for tea and little Paige and her girlfriends were ready to party. The girls were thrilled to get dolled up in the mermaid costumes and flowered halos. They danced around and pretended to swim through the room when suddenly, “Ariel” appeared! The girls were treated to a special version of “Part of your World” (click to view video) and got to sing along before getting their faces painted and watching some cool magic tricks. It was a magical sea adventure!

Mocktails for Moms and Moms to Be

Today a friend asked for a few summer “Mocktail” ideas and I was inspired to include a few of my favorites – designed for baby showers and moms-to-be. These concoctions are so delicious, you won’t even miss the alcohol. For more ideas visit www.drinktoglow.com. Cheers!

Cosmom

Ingredients:
3 ounces cranberry juice
1 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce mandarin orange juice
1/2 ounce orange-flavored syrup
1 lime twirl

Directions: Shake juices and syrup with ice. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lime twirl.

Mom-ito

Ingredients:
10 Large Mint leaves
1 oz Lime juice
1 oz Soda Water

Directions: Muddle mint leaves, sugar, and lime juice in the bottom of a highball glass. Pour in soda water and garnish with mint leaves.

The Mamarita

Ingredients:

4 Oz Orange Juice

2 Oz Sour Mix

1 Oz Fresh Lime Juice

Directions:
Shake with ice.
Serve in a salt or sugar rimmed glass and garnish with slice of lime.
