Bert’s Big Birthday Bash at Midtown Bowl

Our most recent Birthday Bash took place at the Midtown Bowl on August 28, 2011 and it was fantastic!

As usual it was so much fun to see all the BBA kids smiling and having fun. Everyone participated in the bowling and (of course) the cupcake eating!

We went with a pallet of turquoise and lavender with a bowling ball accent. The cheery colors went with the cheery atmosphere and coordinated well with the venue. We can’t wait to create a whole new theme and design for our next Bert’s Big Adventure Birthday Bash! And of course we’ll share the finished product with you!

Bert’s Big Adventure Birthday Bash!

Thanks for hanging in there! We promised more pictures and they are finally here. Lauren Nicole Studios took some fabulous photos of our very first Bert’s Big Adventure Birthday Bash. Take a look!

The party had a carnival theme with blue, white and red as the main colors, with yellow as an accent color for party hats, place cards, and cups. We are so proud of this party and had so much fun with all of the kids. They loved the freshly popped popcorn, hot dogs, lollipops and yummy cupcakes we had for the birthday boys and girls and all of their friends and family. Everyone was also able to enjoy face painting, games and one fabulous furry pup.

These birthday bashes are so much fun that we’ll be having one every month for each child that was a part Bert’s Big Adventure! Every day is special for these kids and we’re so happy that we can make their birthdays even more memorable. Thank you again to everyone that helped make this party a success. We can’t wait until the next one!

Real Events: A Superhero Adventure

Avner’s 4th Birthday was cause for a super sized celebration. Avner had Batman as his superhero of choice and we went all out to make him feel like the big man himself. The party took place at Sensory Therafun which is a facility that offers parents and therapists a new form of therapy for kids that’s both creative and fun! The space gave the kids lots of room to climb, play and decorate!

The tables were decorated with batman colors and superhero catchphrases that grabbed the kid’s attention. We used over-sized balloons as the centerpieces with a decorative black and with runner on the table. The kids enjoyed pizza and snacks before cutting the Batman cake!

We had a separate room for the party activity where all the kids got to make and decorate their own superhero capes and masks to go along with the theme. They decorated with stickers and markers and glitter to make each one their own. All the kids had such a great time creating their masterpieces and giving themselves superhero names!

Real Events: Bert’s Big Adventure Send Off Party

Several years ago I was approached by one of my favorite clients, Stacey Weiss, to get involved in a nonprofit that she runs – Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization designed to take children with a chronic or terminal illness and their families on an all-expense paid, red carpet treatment trip to Walt Disney World each year. It’s a chance for these families to escape, for just a few days, the endless hospital visits and treatments and have a few days of magic.  As a mom of small children, this is a cause that is close to my heart and I was more than happy to get involved. They asked us to help them make the Send off event a true red carpet experience to really set the stage for the magical adventure the families are about to embark upon. Each year we have added more touches and made it just a little better and this year was my
favorite yet.  The show is broadcast live from the event at the Sheraton Gateway Atlanta and it is an exciting begining to this magical trip.

This year a Mardi Gras theme was chosen and we used a bright and festive color scheme of purple, gold and green. We designed invitations
and signage using a Mardi Gras mask as the element we carried throughout. The familes were greeted with welcome baskets containing our
signature themed water bottles and gorgeous brightly colored mask sugar cookies.
Our vision was to create a mini “Bourbon Street” in the hotel ballroom. Each vendor was set up as a mini “shop” with fun. New Olreans themed
names. We made our Posh Tot Events shop “Camille’s Costume Emporium” and helped the children to dress up in fun costumes. We had street
lights and signage to mark the path and the entrance was marked with a huge balloon mask arch.
The food station area was  dubbed “Crescent Street Cafe”, and we set up small bistro size tables with umbrellas around them to help create the
feel of a street side cafe. Carters, a major sponsor of Bert’s Big Adventure, enlisted our help to create their booth – the “Bourbon Street Art Studio”.
We filled it with area rugs, arts supplies and brightly colored tables and chairs set up as art stations at which the children decorated journals
to take with them on their trip.

Something new we added this year was an event stage for the performers. We had a magician and several musicians and entertainers that
had time on the stage to perform. We arranged the tables around the stage so everyone could get a good view of the fun and adorned
them with beautiful organza overlays in green and purple. We topped them with floating balloon centerpieces with feather boas and
table names that gave a nod to famous New Orleans places and phrases. Each table was also sprinkled with brightly colored coins
for good luck.

Something we have been doing every year is a pampering area for the parents. We have enlisted the help of hair and makeup artists
and massage therapists to provide services to the very deserving parents of these children and this year they were setup in their own mini “suites”.

Real Events: Cooks in the Kitchen – A Baking Themed 6th Birthday Party

We love it when clients come back year after year, although it can present a challenge in the theme department. We have to kick the creativity up a notch so that each event feels fresh and new. This year one of our favorite Posh Kids, Parker Bella, turned 6 and her mom and I devised a girly, baking theme to keep the girls entertained.

We used a fun color palette of Parker’s favorite colors – lavender and turquoise adding a little yellow for accent. The tables took on a whimsical
feel with centerpieces that used baking supplies and mini “cookbooks”.  We kept it girly by adding  jewels to the place cards and goblets and little cupcake charms to the napkin holders. The water bottles were dressed up with mini wisks fashioned out of ribbon.

The party started with an apron decorating activity that the girls really enjoyed. Personalized aprons were embellished with glitter glue,
felt shapes and letters.

The cake was created to coordinate with the invitations and featured baking supplies made from fondant and finished with a satin sheen.

Each girl got her very own cloth chef hat to wear (and take home!) before we got to work on the food. Three stations were set up for the
girls to rotate through and they each made fruit skewers, tea sandwiches and best of all cookies!  The girls were able to immediately enjoy
the fruits of their labor as they sat down to eat the treats they had prepared. After the cake was served each guest received a set of mini
cooking tools to take home along with their chef hats. It was a delicious day of fun for Parker Bella and her friends.

Real Events: A New Orleans Inspired 4th Birthday

Using the Disney Movie “Princess and the Frog’s New Orleans setting as inspiration, we created this fun and colorful party for Imani’s
3rd birthday.  Her favorite color is lavender so we made sure to use that throughout the table settings with soft satin overlays and
sashes on the chairs.  2 playful jumping frogs showed up on all the printed items from the invitations to the favor tags.

To keep the little ones busy and happy, we set up a donut decorating activity that tasted as good as it looked!

Personalized favor bags were made for each guest and contained pralines direct from New Orleans.  The family served a traditional
gumbo for lunch in keeping with the theme and delicious cake for dessert.  The mom requested cupcakes with fresh strawberries for
the kids and they were a hit! A certain frog princess made an appearance and delighted the little ones with face painting and
magic tricks.

That’s One Posh Cake!

Mermaid Mania Cake

One of our most popular themes, Tea Under the Sea,  is inspired by the movie, the little mermaid. The artists over at Sugarplum Visions created this masterpiece for little Violet’s 4th birthday this spring. Everything on the cake is edible. It is truly awe-inspiring and it tastes as good as it looks!

A Teddy Bear Picnic

Teddy Bear Picnic Birthday Party

Last year we designed a cute “Fairies & Frogs” party for little Alessandra’s 1st birthday so we were thrilled when her mom called us this year with another cute idea – a Teddy Bear picnic! She requested a color scheme of brown and cream with yellow accents. Since the children were small, we used toddler sized chairs and tables and dressed them up with cream linens and satin sashes in alternating shades of brown. We covered the table in a rich brown cloth and wide yellow ribbon weaving it into a gingham pattern to create a picnic feel. Cupcakes with little bears on them displayed in a picnic basket completed the look.  It was adorable!

A Mad Hatter Tea Party

Alice in Wonderland inspired Mad Hatter Tea

With all the hoopla around the release of Alice in Wonderland this spring, it was only a matter of time before we designed a party based on the popular tale. When Victoria’s mom called and requested this theme I jumped at the chance. We chose a bright and playful pallette of hot pink and turquoise. We used colorful linens and tea sets to set up a Whimsical Tea party around the pool. Invitations were custom created by Deb Buker of  Whimsical Originals (how perfect!). She  also made the coordinating “Eat Me” cookies and I made “Drink Me” tags to attach to each tea cup to go along with the theme.  We had an Alice arrive to entertain the girls and a “Mad Hatter Hat Factory” set up for the craft station. Croquet on the lawn was a hit and the girls had a blast!

Monster Trucks for Hollis’ 3rd Birthday

It was a Monster of a good time for Hollis’ 3rd birthday.

My favorite clients, Stacey, who manages to throw a new challenge at me at least twice a year gave me the task of “poshing up” a Monster Truck theme for her 3 year old son Hollis.

A sweets buffet, amazing balloon “tires” and a real monster truck were the main event with custom made party hats, pit passes and custom chair toppers rounding out the decor.  The party was a blast and not even the threat of rain could ruin this little dude’s Monster Truck themed bash. We made it through the whole party without a drop after moving the party into the garage at the last minute. Just as the guests were leaving the sky opened up but by then all the cupcakes were sweet history and a monster of a time had been had by all!!

A Masquerade Ball inspired by a Princess

An Enchanted Ball inspired by a Princess and her Frog

Ah, Tiana….so far she is my favorite Disney Princess. Taking my kids to see the movie (and writing it off as business research) was fun, but I had no idea how much I would identify with this long awaited Princess. Not one for sitting around on her lily pad, this gal has spunk. A type-A girl after my own heart who longed to open her own restaurant, she believed that with enough hard work and perseverance anything is possible. Now this is a message I was happy to share with my own daughter. Of course I was thrilled when I received the first client call for Posh Tot Events to plan a Princess and the Frog themed affair.

We went true to the movie with a color scheme of green and cream with some touches of lilac and gold.  We decided to go with a Masquerade Ball theme to tie in the scene in the movie where Tiana and the Prince are transformed into their froggy counterparts.  To set the stage, a gorgeous invitation was designed in the shape of a mask, designed by Whimsical Originals, complete with elastics to hold them in place so the recipients could try them out before the big event.

Masquerade Mask Invitation from Whimsical Originals

From there we selected apple green satin overlays and chair sashes paired with cream colored chair covers. We used small round tables and adorned them with hand crafted centerpieces. Sparkly green boxes (found at Target!) were filled with light green silk flowers and topped with masks and rubber frogs peeking out of the blooms.

To give the event that extra Wow factor, I turned to the pros at Balloonacy Atlanta. They created an amazing “canopy” of balloons that framed the “dance floor” and created a truly spectacular site. The entrance was framed with balloon pedestals’ and topped with frogs made out of green balloons that the guests were able to take home with them.

We set up a craft table for the guests to decorate their own masks and hats and arranged for “Tiana and Prince Naveen” to make a special appearance. When they arrived they did a waltz for the children then proceeded to dance with the children, play games, perform a coronation and knighting ceremony and lead a Mardi Gras parade. It was a great event and I can’t wait to do my next one in two weeks! View more pictures here.

Let Them Eat Cake! A Hello Kitty Inspired Baking Soiree

A Baking Party for Leilani

One of the best, although admittedly more time consuming, parts of my job is designing custom themes for my clients. Every once in a while I get an idea that challenges me to get really creative. This time it was 11 year old Leilani, an aspiring pastry chef. She wanted to have a birthday party centered on cake decorating but that also included her favorite design elements from the Hello Kitty! Bonjour Paris! collection. Hmmm.

First we had to incorporate all of her favorite colors and those in the Bonjour Paris collection: pink, tiffany blue, light green, purple and yellow. Next, we needed to get the Parisian feel in there and represent Kitty without using the tacky paper products and plastic do dads.  Finally, we needed to include a decorating demonstration that would focus in on the very specific techniques for decorating with fondant that Leilani was interested in sharing with her friends.  Enter my two life savers: Debra Buker of Whimsical Originals and Dorothy Norris AKA Chef Dorothy.  Deb designed a gorgeous (Leilani’s words!) invitation that captured the feel of the event and used the Hello Kitty image in a tasteful (posh) way. Chef Dorothy worked with our client to develop a comprehensive design instruction that kept the girls engaged for the entire two hours. It was a hit! Check out some of the posh details.

Disposable aprons and chef hats and  embroidered  aprons from Growing Cooks, table décor designed by Posh Tot Events, (Eiffle towers found at Target), Chef Dorothy designed the amazing cake and the custom invitations came from Whimsical Originals

A Fierce Fashionista Birthday with A Runway Show Finale

Makeup, Nails, Fashion and More for A Birthday Girl with Style Galore!

7-Year-old Kelsey knew what she wanted for her birthday party. Since we didn’t have a package that had exactly what she was looking for, we custom designed a party for her and her fashion forward girlfriends. Posh costumes, makeup done by a professional makeup artist, mini manicures and a red carpet runway show emceed by our staff made for an action packed event for these little divas.

Fashionista Birthday

We chose a color palette of  black and hot pink with touches of lime green, then blinged it up with rhinestones, boas and lots of sparkle.  A centerpiece for the table was created by hanging a fun sequined dress with a hot pink boa and the table was draped with layers of silver and hot pink fabric, black and silver necklaces and silver star confetti.  The cupcakes had fabulous dresses on them individually cut out of black fondant and adorned to match the invitation. How cohesive!

After being primped and dressed in outfits of their choosing, the girls walked the catwalk as music pumped loudly through the room. These girls had personality! Each girl took home a monogrammed makeup bag and a custom water bottle, not to mention a lot of fun memories from their day of beauty and fashion.

Coffee and Tea Under the Sea

Tea Under the Sea with Pampering for the Moms!

5 Year old Parker was excited about her mermaid themed birthday but mom Staci was just as thrilled when the big day arrived. Not only where the girls treated to Posh pampering with mini-manicures, face painting and magic from a Mermaid Princess, the moms had some treats just for them! Chair massages and a gourmet coffee station made this a birthday party that a far cry from a load, chaotic jumpy center!  Amazing custom balloon columns were created by the talented Holland of Balloonacy Atlanta. The girls were treated to some tasty hot chocolate as well and everyone enjoyed the magnificent cake that was straight out of an underwater fantasy!

A 5th Birthday Tea Party for Girls and Their Favorite Dolls

Ava’s Favorite Doll Tea Party

For Ava’s 5th Birthday we decided to incorporate her love of all things girly and that meant princesses, tiaras, loads of flowers and dolls, dolls, dolls!

The Look
We held the fete in the beautiful event room at KooKoo Bear Kids in Roswell. The room is decorated with furnishings from the store and is already fit for a princess and her friends. For the decor, we started with a fresh and funky color palette of pink and yellow and used flowers and an image of a little girl with her doll on everything from the invitation to the goody bags. The 4 top round tables were dressed with crisp white linens, napkin rings with empowering slogans such as “be brave”, ”try something new” and “sparkle”  and porcelain tea cups and saucers in shades of pastel. To make the party unique, we set a separate table for the dolls and provided some clothes and doll sized boas for the girls to dress them.

The Activities
The craft table was filled with fun activities including little wooden dolls to color, brightly colored paper flowers to assemble from American Girl Crafts and picture frames to embellish. A special appearance by Princess Aurora thrilled the girls and she delighted them with face painting, magic and dancing as well as a princess etiquette lesson when they sat down to “tea”.

The Food
Butterfly tea sandwiches were served along with fruit punch “tea” and hand painted initial cookies by Whimsical Originals for the girls (and their dolls!). Cupcakes topped with paper flowers and a delicious butter cream chocolate cake from Cakes by Darcy rounded out the sweets.

A Super Mario Brother’s Theme for Hayden’s 7th Birthday

Mario on the Red Carpet

7 year old Hayden is a Wii fanatic and wanted a Super Mario Brother’s theme for his 7th Birthday. Always up for a challenge, we came up with a fully interactive event complete with a “Wii Lounge” where the kids got to play the game on a huge screen, take pictures with “Mario” on the red carpet in front of a custom designed backdrop, and decorate picture frames to put the pictures in that were taken on site. Instead of the usual goody bags we set up a “favor buffet” and the kids got to pick out their own goodies from a cool selection of Mario themed loot. It was a great event and everyone had a ball!
